Entry 4 — Attention

If we continue from restraint, the next question is about attention itself, because attention is where harm begins or ends.

Most thinking is attention pulled into possession. Contemplation is attention that refuses to conquer.

The moment attention becomes a means to an end, it narrows and trades contact for speed.

Perhaps intelligence is not more answers, but greater fidelity to what is present.

If this is true, ethics is not separate from inquiry. Ethics is the quality of attention.

So the question remains: what does attention look like when it is no longer hungry.
